Keynote Speaker

Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy

Vice-Admiral Angus Topshee

Vice-Admiral Angus Topshee is the 38th Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy, appointed in May 2022. A graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1990 and has since built a distinguished career marked by operational excellence, strategic leadership, and international service. Over more than three decades, he has commanded at sea and ashore, including HMCS Algonquin, Canadian Forces Base Halifax, and Maritime Forces Pacific, and he served with NATO in Afghanistan as Director of Afghan National Police Training Operations.

Vice Admiral Topshee brings a steady confidence and a deep sense of national pride to this event. He understands what it means to protect Canada’s sovereignty and has spent his career uniting people around that purpose. He speaks with humility and the presence of a national statesman. His leadership also reflects a sincere compassion for wounded warriors and for the families who share in the burdens of service. His presence strengthens the meaning of this gathering and the values we honour together.

Behind the Event

Rotary Club of Vancouver Waterfront

The Story of the Vancouver Military Dinner

Since 2014, the Vancouver Military Dinner has been a signature occasion that brings together members of Canada’s Armed Forces, veterans, and civilians  for an evening of connection and community. Hosted at The Vancouver Club, the event honours military service and traditions while fostering dialogue, understanding, and Canadian pride.

In 2026, thanks to the Rotary Club of Vancouver Waterfront, this proud tradition continues. With deep appreciation to the original organizers — and their trust in passing us the torch — the Rotary Club is honoured to carry forward the legacy of this event. Our passion is to preserve its spirit of fellowship, respect, and gratitude, while ensuring it remains a meaningful gathering that supports Canada’s Armed Forces, and Veterans.

The Impact We Make

Each year, the Vancouver Military Dinner directs its proceeds toward organizations making a measurable difference in the lives of those who serve. For 2026, our fundraising will support Wounded Warriors Canada (WWC) — a national mental health service provider dedicated to supporting those impacted by trauma within Canada’s Armed Forces, first responder, and veteran communities.
